Split between three existing buildings over 750,000 square feet, a Southern California-based life sciences company needed to move its entire management group into one location to maintain its competitive edge. One of the largest activity-based workplaces, the consolidated headquarters prioritizes health, views and daylight to spur collaboration and movement.
The project team used design computation to study access to daylight and views of nature, visibility from team to team, circulation patterns and even noise and acoustics to plan and optimize a next-generation workplace.
Features
Employees work in one of several open-plan “neighborhoods,” arranged to blend together as work groups expand and contract. Early adoption of the activity-based workplace by executives set an example for the staff.
