NBBJ Partners with Hines on Three New Science Buildings in North Bethesda, Beginning with University of Maryland’s Institute for Health Computing
NBBJ is part of the team selected to help realize three new life science buildings in North Bethesda, MD, as part of a major development led by Hines and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). The award follows a competitive RFP process, in which NBBJ collaborated with partners to secure the opportunity to help shape this transformative initiative.
Anchored by the University of Maryland’s new Institute for Health Computing (IHC), the project is a major milestone in the transformation of the North Bethesda Metro Station area into a vibrant mixed-use innovation district.
As the first science building developed, the Institute for Health Computing will serve as a pioneering environment where artificial intelligence, data science and medicine converge to improve patient outcomes and accelerate biomedical discovery. The broader development—envisioned as a thriving hub for research, collaboration and community—represents a key step in Montgomery County’s growing prominence in the national life sciences sector.
