Uplift Podcast: From Floods to Pandemics, How to Design Resilience Not Just for Disasters, But Every Day
SCROLL DOWN TO LISTEN
As climate change results in more extreme weather, healthcare systems are increasingly tasked with maintaining operations in difficult circumstances. That includes natural disasters, but also pandemics and other emergencies. Luckily, design changes that help in these catastrophic events can also help improve the operational efficiency and caregiver experience every day of the year.
On this episode, we're joined by Dianna Jacob, Chief Operating Officer, and Dan Collins, Facility Manager at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health in Brooklyn, NY, as well as NBBJ's John Flanagan. NBBJ is currently working with Dianna and Dan on the new Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital, part of a major $922 million hospital campus renovation to demolish, replace and repair buildings damaged by Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
