As law firm offices evolve from traditional layouts that reinforce hierarchy to environments that foster connection, Ballard Spahr Lane Powell’s office honors the firm’s 150-year history while reimagining the modern workplace. The design is guided by three principles: create a welcoming, gracious environment for the modern professional, emphasize community and hospitality, and cultivate a flourishing workplace that supports every employee.
Perched above Puget Sound and inspired by the Pacific Northwest's legacy trees, the firm's new office features soft curves, natural textures and daylit workspaces. Transparent perimeter offices and standard-sized workstations ensure access to daylight and views for all, complemented by collaborative areas that encourage spontaneous interaction. A public-facing reception offers views of the Sound, while a hospitality-driven café and internal stair encourage informal gatherings and connection across teams.
