Uplift Podcast: Design for Cancer Breakthroughs—Game Changers that 'Give Patients Their Lives Back'
SCROLL DOWN TO LISTEN
This year alone, 1.9 million new cancer cases are expected to be reported in the United States, a number that has remained more or less consistent in recent years. However, there has also been a 32% drop in the death rate since 1991, due in part to new breakthroughs and discoveries. On this episode of Uplift, we talk about what these developments mean for the future of cancer treatment, and how design can help hospitals provide more robust care.
We are joined by Mara Bloom, Vice President of the Mass General Cancer Center in Boston, MA. She is currently working with NBBJ on the design of the new 450-bed Cambridge Street Project, which focuses on cancer and cardiac care. Also with us is NBBJ's Sarah Markovitz, one of the lead architects and medical planners working on the project at NBBJ.
