18th Avenue Streetscape Improvements
To help achieve the university’s vision for a cohesive and sustainable campus, NBBJ designed a streetscape for the Ohio State University that responds to the need for ease of circulation and activated, inviting student gathering spaces.
With the main scope of work being a utility tunnel renovation, the introduction of a hierarchy of simple materials creates a unified pedestrian space while reduced impervious surfaces, the use of permeable paving in key spaces and increased tree canopy coverage and diversity improve the district’s capacity to manage stormwater. Street graphics with embedded QR codes, also designed by NBBJ, promote wayfinding and create an educational journey.
