ULI, the World's Premier Real Estate Organization, Recognizes Two NBBJ Projects with Awards for Excellence
The Urban Land Institute honors two NBBJ projects in the real estate industry's most prestigious award competitions. Two Taikoo Place, a mixed-use development in Hong Kong, wins a ULI Asia Pacific Award for Excellence, while the Microsoft East Campus Modernization Project, which includes the Thermal Energy Center, wins a ULI Americas Award for Excellence and receives special recognition in the low-carbon development category.
This year’s winners span myriad projects throughout Asia and North America, chosen by a multidisciplinary jury of ULI members. Scroll down below to see images and details about each project.
Two Taikoo Place: ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence Winner
Situated at the heart of Hong Kong's Quarry Bay, Swire's Two Taikoo Place elevates tenant and community wellness through diverse, shared amenities and public zones. Unlike typical developments in Hong Kong, the first two floors are completely open to the public, promoting inclusivity and a range of social interactions within the building.
Shaped by the motto of "land, sea and air," Taikoo Place showcases a dynamic new paradigm for high-rise developments—one that provides tenants with engaging and uplifting workspaces that go beyond the traditional desk. Taikoo Place hosts seamless indoor-outdoor ground floor spaces, to urban amenities and co-working spaces on the main level, to quieter tearooms, executive lounges and a two-story garden above, serving as a destination for tenants and neighbors alike.
Microsoft East Campus Modernization Project: ULI Americas Awards for Excellence Winner
Situated on 72 acres of Microsoft's Redmond, WA, headquarters and encompassing a wide array of workspaces and amenities, the East Campus serves 6,000+ employees in an urban-inspired, pedestrian- and bike-friendly setting. It also includes the Thermal Energy Center, shown above, which harnesses the earth's energy to power the campus.
A pedestrian bridge unites the East and West campuses and serves as an extension of the local bike trail and a connector to transit, and a two-acre plaza at the heart welcomes employees and the public. The campus is also pursuing ILFI Zero Carbon and LEED Platinum certifications and has already received Salmon Safe Certification.
