Rainier Square Wins the Industry's Premier Engineering Award for Speed and Innovation in Construction
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) bestows its highest honor on Rainier Square, recognizing the 58-story mixed-use high-rise in downtown Seattle with its "2022 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement" (OCEA) award. Developed by Wright Runstad & Company, the innovative project not only redefines its urban neighborhood with its shimmering carved form, but utilizes a unique structural system, SpeedCore, created by engineering firm, Magnusson Klemencic Associates, which shaved ten months off the construction schedule. By rethinking the engineering fundamentals of tall buildings and skyscrapers—from using pre-fab, modular steel modules to eliminating rebar and formwork for concrete—this strategy saved time and resources.
