Washington State’s newest ferry terminal, Coleman Dock, is now open. As the first constructed building west of Alaskan Way since the removal of the Alaskan Way viaduct, the project reimagines a flagship transportation hub. Designed to reduce carbon and increase accessibility, the project’s triangular skylights, operable windows and ceiling fans use gentle sea breezes to provide passive cooling, while tactile pavers and an elevated pedestrian path creates universal accessibility.
