When Macy’s occupied the 10th floor of an office building they leased in New York’s Garment District, the company looked to NBBJ to design a flexible, efficient workplace for its rapidly expanding Macy’ division.

NBBJ elevated the company’s existing workplace design standards by concentrating on a few key elements: by upgrading the finishes, subtly modifying the casework, and simplifying the existing architecture and circulation paths. The result is a bright, uplifting workplace delivered at great value to the company.

The social heart of the office is the pantry, where a custom banquette, Eames Molded Plastic chairs and Herman Miller Everywhere tables create a place for socializing and informal meetings. Niches throughout the workplace provide storage for merchandise, but can also be converted to additional desks as the workforce expands or new departments move in.
