Sarah Markovitz, a principal and clinical lead with NBBJ in Boston, has dedicated her career to improving healing environments and performance metrics in healthcare design. She is a leader in evidence-based design and in applying Lean thinking to project design and management.
Sarah has overseen Lean integration in all recent NBBJ projects, including the Lunder Building at Massachusetts General Hospital, which won awards from city, state, and national AIA chapters, as well as the International Academy for Design and Health, and Healthcare Design and Modern Healthcare magazines.
She has also worked with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, NYU Langone Medical Center, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, the Medical University of South Carolina, and many other healthcare providers. With over 25 years of experience, she has led all levels of hospital personnel through strategic planning, visioning, goal-setting, and detailed planning for highly technical facilities.
