Edwin Beltran, FIIDA, Assoc. AIA
Partner I Firmwide Interior Design Leader
As design leader of NBBJ’s interior architecture and design practice, Edwin Beltran has led many of the firm’s most notable and award-winning interiors projects. Influenced by his training as an architect and keen eye for interior design, Edwin’s approach centers on empathy, hope and optimism. His work translates client goals into uplifting, empowering experiences in which form, function, space, light, color, materials and human experience are thoughtfully choreographed to embody the unique “ethos” of each institution.
With almost 30 years of design experience, he has worked nationally and internationally on complex projects—from acute-care hospitals to behavioral healthcare centers—as well as mixed-use buildings, institutional campuses, commercial offices and hospitality interiors. His design work has been recognized with multiple AIA Honor and IIDA Design awards and featured in publications such as Architectural Record, Healthcare Design, Interior Design, Metropolis and Modern Healthcare. Notable projects include the Cleveland Clinic, Nationwide Children’s Hospital Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion, the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System Replacement Medical Center, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Fetal Care Center, Massachusetts General Hospital Cambridge Street and 250 High. Globally recognized for his innovative design excellence, Edwin is a Fellow of the IIDA and has been named “Interior Designer of the Year” by Healthcare Design magazine.
An active leader in the design community, Edwin has served as an adjunct faculty member at the Ohio State University’s Knowlton School of Architecture, where he taught design studios and continues to be a guest critic. Additionally, he has served as a guest critic for design reviews at the Catholic University of America, Illinois Institute of Technology, the University of Puerto Rico and the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. Edwin also served as a vice president of IIDA’s International Board of Directors and was a member of the IDCEC Board of Directors.
