To expand its business in New York, this highly-regarded Midwest furniture dealer wanted a sophisticated workplace that would double
as a showroom for its own products.

Located in the heart of the fashion district, the new 3,000-square-foot showroom occupies the entire 16th floor of an early 20th-century building. The original structure and utilities were left exposed and painted white to highlight the character of the building and the changing light throughout the day.

The private office and conference room are enclosed in glass with an acoustic ceiling, while workstations are white with accents of polished stainless steel. Against this bright canvas, the rich, dark wood flooring unites the entire space to create a gallery atmosphere that frames the furniture and views of the skyline beyond.

NBBJ worked closely with Henricksen to select pieces from their own furniture lines that blur the distinction between office and event space, and to showcase the collection with vivid upholstery fabrics. The color palette continues in the accent walls, offset by the rhythmic, muted pattern of the carpet tiles. Overall the design reflects the energy and attitude — sophisticated yet approachable — that defines the Henricksen brand.
