for Growth

The Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) selected NBBJ to develop a master plan that identified future programs, services and facilities. The scope included a service volume forecast, identification of new services and best locations in which to house them.

A primary out outcome of the master plan was the consolidation of a number of primary care and specialty clinics to the main CHOC campus that were previously spread out in freestanding facilities. In addition, the project included a new 60,000-square-foot ambulatory care center which was designed as a vibrant outpatient facility to give children an escape from typical hospital setting.

The project also provided a new home for the Dhont Family Foundation Outpatient Infusion Center, as well as a small dental operatory, radiography, cast rooms, medical records storage, and administrative and support offices. Ultimately, NBBJ’s facility master plan and surrounding work helped the hospital provide services to children it was previously unable to facilitate.
