Partner I Healthcare Design Leader
Jose is a design leader of NBBJ’s healthcare practice, building on more than 30 years of experience creating complex, transformational projects for key academic medical centers and other leading clients. Jose’s approach is grounded in the collaborative relationship between owners and design and construction teams—building on a dynamic shared vision that carries through from the earliest design concepts to the final details.
With a focus on healthcare as well as research and civic markets, Jose’s work includes landmark hospital expansions such as UCSD Hillcrest and Oregon Health & Sciences University Hospital Vista Tower, a new campus at University Medical Center New Orleans, and the Loma Linda University Medical Center replacement hospital. Jose also led the design of Seattle City Light Denny Substation, a project which sets new standards for civic-minded infrastructure.
His work has been recognized by Modern Healthcare, Healthcare Design, Fast Company, Interior Design and national and local AIA chapters. In addition, Jose is the recipient of the prestigious Rotch Travelling Scholarship, and served as a visiting critic at MIT, the University of Washington, the University of Florida and the University of South Florida.
