During 40 years of professional practice, Doug Parris has driven organizational transformation by rethinking design and construction methodologies. He has developed, promoted, and executed Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), the most prominent paradigm shift in design and construction in decades, now the preferred approach of owners looking for less siloed design and delivery processes.
As an innovator in Design-Build and IPD, Doug’s emphasis on systematic practice bolsters collaboration, speeds time-to-market, increases productivity, and delivers transformational environments for domestic and international healthcare and higher education facilities. Doug currently is a leader of NBBJ’s Integrated Delivery and Design Practice Futures teams. For the past seven years he has worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs to frame a new delivery process called Integrated Design Construct (IDC), which has become the standard for all major VA projects, including the facilities underway in New Orleans and Omaha.
His expertise also encompasses project leadership, project management, and cost management on a broad range of higher education, research laboratory, and healthcare projects for such clients as Kuwait University, Kuwait Ministry of Health, Ohio State University, University of Pittsburgh, and the Cleveland Clinic.
