A.J. Montero’s strength lies in a holistic approach to architectural design. With more than 15 years experience, his work expresses an integrated process where master planning, way-finding, environmental graphics, landscape architecture, and interior architecture provide a larger framework for building design.
Reinforcing the firm’s belief that every building contributes to the larger community, A.J.’s portfolio ranges from small scale projects to the design of entire hospital campuses. His versatility and multi-market perspective have been integral to the delivery of many of NBBJ’s most celebrated healthcare projects.
A.J.’s leadership was central to the design of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System project — a 1.7 million square foot medical facility that serves as an example of healthcare delivery of the future. His guidance on a series of projects for Nationwide Children’s Hospital helped elevate the institution from regionally recognized to a national leader for pediatric research. And his far-reaching impact has extended to the introduction of innovative design practices to international clients. His collaboration with Kuwait University guided the design of the institution’s state-of-the-art College of Science.
