NBBJ Tops Fast Company’s 2018 List of Most Innovative Companies in Architecture

The designation marks the third time NBBJ has been selected for the prestigious listing.

SEATTLE – NBBJ, a leading architecture and design firm dedicated to improving the way society heals, works and thrives, has been selected by Fast Company as the Most Innovative Company in Architecture for 2018. The Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Architecture list is part of the magazine’s annual ranking of the world’s Most Innovative Companies for 2018, honoring leading enterprises and rising newcomers that exemplify the best in business and innovation.

Notably, NBBJ is one of very few architecture companies to have been selected for the distinction three times. This year, the magazine recognized NBBJ’s commitment to creating offices that empower workers with healthy nature-infused environments, to designing healthcare spaces that reach the most vulnerable in society, and to planning resilient communities that flourish in the midst of a changing global climate.

“At the heart of each NBBJ project and new idea we deliver is an obligation to our clients, one that seeks to create value, transform organizations and propel society forward,” said Steve McConnell, FAIA, Managing Partner at NBBJ. “We are grateful to the editors of Fast Company for recognizing NBBJ’s unwavering commitment to innovation with purpose.”

Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2018, NBBJ has grown to encompass more than 700 employees working across the company’s offices in Boston, Columbus, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, Pune, San Francisco, Seattle and Shanghai. In the past decade, NBBJ’s impact has been widespread, from designing the “greenest” hospital in China, to creating the world’s most progressive biophilic office, to recasting utilitarian infrastructure projects from eyesores into vibrant community hotspots.

Within its ecosystem of integrated disciplines — architecture, interior design, urban planning, brand and experience design, and digital technology — NBBJ continues to push the boundaries of what an architecture practice can be and accomplish in an increasingly connected world.
