After certification from the USGBC, the NBBJ-designed Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital has become the first-ever LEED HC Gold-certified hospital in China, reports Shine.cn, an English news site powered by Shanghai Daily. Central to its design are a series of garden courtyards that not only bring nature into the healthcare experience and improve patient outcomes, but also help to manage stormwater on-site. The project also includes a terracotta facade and site orientation that reduce solar heat gain, a highly efficient central energy plant, and healthy materials throughout.
