NBBJ Partner Jonathan Ward was recently interviewed by the Korea Herald, the nation's top English-language newspaper, regarding the design of Samsung's new North American Headquarters in California's Silicon Valley. In the article, Jonathan discusses how the design was inspired by the wafer-like look of Samsung's semiconductors.
“The idea here was developed initially from the idea of using the building to help generate greater synergy between the employees at Samsung,” Ward said. “The semiconductor does something similar ― it is a series of layers and wafers with gases in between each layer that enables high-speed communication and computation.”
He also discusses his love for Korean culture and innovation, and outlines the firm's history in the country, which spans decades and includes other projects for Samsung.
